I found some 15-year-old rubbing compound that I purchased sometime in high school. Full tub, completely unused. (yes I am a pack rat).

Anyway... This thin red claylike stuff did the trick. I applied some to the blade and also to a felt wheel on my dremel. Used different speeds and directions and laid the pad at an angle while whirring away to cover as much surface area as possible per side (to avoid irregularities).

I think I'm about 5 minutes from the mirror finish I'm looking for. The marks and mars that were left from wire brushes and earlier polishing are GONE, and I'm cleaning up about 4-5 other blades now.

    wooo!

Those scuffs are easily fixed and as you say prolly not even noticeable in a different light.

    There ya go !
If you try Chrome oxide paste after the rubbing compound. it should help you brighten that mirror.
