    Default $11.00 and 24 hours..........

I snatched this 7/8 Joseph Rodgers&Sons off of ebay for $11! It came with scales made from an old yardstick with roofing nails holding it together.

I love Sheffield steel and got motivated! Made a set of scales from scrap black lexan, got out the scotchbrite and the die grinder cleaned up the blade....Here it is 24 hours later ready to shave.I generally don't rush things, but with a upcoming (another!) spinal fusion coming soon and cabin fever driving me nuts-what a better way to pass the time.

I just shaved with it. Killer. I love Sheffield steel. I set the bevel with a 1K shapton and then went through various Shapton's,2 coticules and finished with 25 laps on the 30K Shapton. 50 laps on Tony Miller Latigo and it was splitting hairs like crazy.

I'm always amazed at how well the Sheffield crafted razor's take an edge. I can honestly say I have yet to find one of these old blades that I couldn't get to shave well. Regardless of the grind, provided they weren't completely corroded away-they have honed easier than alot of the current production blades. And to think there were CHILDREN as young as 7 years old working in the industry.

Get while the gettin' is good-sooner or later they will be gone.
