4/8 Ivory Bonsa Solingen
Hello,
My offering for today is another of the smaller razors. It's a little over 4/8, so i'm guessing that it's not seen much use.
I've included a before photo this time & another next to the 7/8 Friodur to give an idea of the size.
It needed a bit of a sand over, up to 1200 grit & a polish on the buffing wheel before honing.
It's gives a very smooth, comfortable, close shave.
Your comment's are, as ever, appreciated!

Nice job bring the blade to a shine! The photo w/ the Friodur is really a good comparison for size. I've only got one 4/8 in my stable and the next is a 9/16. They do shave very good so I don't know why I don't have more.

Thank you.
They do give a good shave. Can't fault them at all, but they're not as exciting as a bigger blade! Maybe that's why?

Thanks guys. I left the grind marks in on this one again, but it does gleam. Just an honest restoration really.
Cheers for the feedback!

great job
Did you take the blade off to clean it Ben or did you do it without taking it off? I have quite a few I would like to clean up but do not want to depin them if I can help it.
Also what do you use o buff it up after your done hand sanding?
thanks
KC

Blimey, this is from a while back!
Thanks for the recent comments.
Kevin, the clean up was done in the scales. It's not nearly as effective around the pivot, but I'd rather do that when there's no problem with them. Give it a go on yours. If you're not happy, consider taking them apart.
Sanded up to 1200 grit, most likely, then buffed on the wheels with black compound, followed by jewellers rouge. Hope that helps.
