    Default First Full Restore

I've done a few restores where I used all the original parts, but this is the first one that I modified to fit my tastes.I bought this razor off ebay strictly because it has my name on it.On one side of the tang it reads "Bobs Special" on the opposite side is states "Bob Smith Barber Supply,Souix City Iowa,Made in Germany".
The original scales were cracked and warped, this is what it looked like before the restore.

I had an old set of faux Ivory scales that were cracked on one end but were long enough to cut down to fit this razor. I added a tortoise shell spacer and repinned using brass washers and copper pins.I used the copper pins because the hobby shop had some when I was in the other day so I thought I would give them a try. The copper rod seemed to peen very similar to the brass rod.
I also added a third pin spaced with brass tubing.
Let me know what you think guys and don't hold any punches,I can take it.
Thanks for looking and here are the pics after the restore:

Turned out very nice. Looks like it's original with those scales too. Hope she's a good shaver.

You did a very nice job on the blade, and that third pin looks like it was always there. That peening looks good as well. PLUS it's ultra cool to have your name stamped on the tang! May it shave you well.

No punches pulled here - Nicely done!

Someday I hope to find a Maartens special...

I've got a similar project on its way and hope it will turn out just as well as yours. Great job!

Nice work. Looks as authentic as the original.
