Default W&B 7/8 aka Red's birthday wish in Tortoise

I present to you a rescale job I had to do for our SRP fellow member 'RED'.

He did send me this big chunk of a 7/8 W&B, Sheffield. His birthday present to himself was to have it rescaled in Faux Tortoise.

Basically I had carte blanche as long as it has no frills and stayed classic in design. Knowing 'RED' he is very picky and hard to please, but in a good way.

The razor came nicely sanded up to 400 grit sandpaper. I just took it for a final spin on the wheels and it took a very nice shine.

I did forget to measure the blade's total cutting edge and weight since the razor is already in his possesion but it's close to 3 inches. It's a big razor.

    Specs

    W&B

    Scale: Faux Tortoise
    Wedge: Clear Acrylic
    Pins and Washers: Nickel silver/brass
    Birthday: Feb 21 - 2009

That's a beautiful great big thing, just like the man himself! He can't be anything but pleased with that! I was of the understandind that he had a W&B American as a birthday gift to himself. How genorous is he to get himself this too?
    Nice work Max

Now that is nice. You are the man, Max.

Aside from great restores, you also take great photos. Any pointers for a beginner?

    Thanks.

Edn thx for the compliments. If you are talking pointers for photography there's really plenty to talk about but I've said it many times, get your white balance and color correction on par. It doesn't matter if you're good or bad at taking pics as long as you're exactly able to reproduce and show your item in the correct color and exposure. Again, this is just one of many variables to look for. But light, white balance and color is your main ingredient. Composition and all that jazz is just the finishing touch.

Not to slight anyone else, but Max you really do beautiful work. I have a few blades I'm redoing, but after countless looks at your work I am really considering sending them to you and giving you complete artistic license. You should teach classes, I'd sign up.

Max, so far so good, haven't looked at the pics, clicked on link and paged down before looking just to read the comments! (Max is waiting to see if my self-control can hold out and I can make it till saturday without looking!)

Ben, the American was lost in the mail, finally we were getting close to the date and I needed a present. I had bought this one for 31 bucks months back. handles were dead. I had been playing with it and planned on sending it to him at some point. I'm happier it ended up this way, now I have a gorgeous one that I've actually helped work on.

Lost in the mail. Oh well. Max has done an incredible job on that. A match for any custom! Did you pick it up in person then?

The american was supposed to go straight from seller to Max, never made it. I sent this one out and got it back yesterday. I had my wife open it and was facing the other way, using her to gauge how great it was. She doesn't even like my razors so when I heard her gasp "wow..." I knew I'd be happy. She is really into making me wait too so wouldn't even let me open the box myself!!

    Red,

it's called torture! I have no clue how you could resist knowing it's in your home maybe 20 yards hidden away in a drawer

(You should teach classes, I'd sign up)

Del1r1um, as to teaching classes... If I'd be the teacher then Alex aka 'Philadelph' should be the supervisor
