Thread: Very rare Puma with mammoth ivory

After some time I will also show here a restored straigth razor. The blade is a very rare and beautifull Puma with the unusal Nr. 52. The condition is nearly NOS. The blade is a little bit more than 6/8.
The handle is from mammoth ivory. There are some small haircracks in the material, but nothing serious and there are no problems with the stability. I think, if you have an 10.000 - 40.000 year old material, this is somthing you have to live with it.

I´m also very sad, that it is alwasy ordered. Will not often have the chance, to hold something like this in my hands.

Very nice! I dig your work... it must be quite an experience to work with such old materials. I am always amazed to realise how fitting the scales are with the blade, making a really harmonious shape. Your Weltmeister in Ebony wood is fantastic in that respect (Fine Razors - Weltmeister, Otto Busch, Solingen-Wald)

I love Pumas and that is a beauty. I wonder if anyone out there can tell me in what period they used that tang stamp ? The Puma in italics with the rectangle around it is one that I have only noticed on one other razor.
