J. Bingham Superior Razor
I won this in a lot of four unscaled blades, all Shefields.
I started to clean it up and decided that I didn't want this very old razor looking new and flawless. So I put some new shoes on her and honed her up.
It took me a while as I had to do a good bit of work to reset the bevel, but she is crazy sharp now. Had my first shave last night. It shaves great, but I have to be careful. It was too easy to put too much pressure on this heavy blade and irritate my face.
I hope you like her.
J. Bingham - Superior Razor, 6/8, 3" blade, Spanish point, stub tail
Scales - Mahogany, African Mahogany wedge, brass pins, poly finish

Ed,
congrats, you did very well.
I noticed you thinned out the part of the scales going towards the toe side leaving the other half going towards the pivot pin on the thicker side. Did you do this on purpose?

Yes and no to the thinning question.
The wood I used was too think to flex (3/16 I think). So I filed it down with a rasp to taper it towards the end. At some point I went too far and it ended up much thinner than I had planned. Overall I am pretty happy with it. It's a first try. I learned a good number of things. And there are things I realize I will need to do several times before I really figure them out.
