Default Dovo Special In Canadian White Oak !!!

This one is heading to one of our Canadian guys, he requested that I use a Canadian wood if possible, but more importantly, use a wood I had on hand "Save a Tree"
I had some really tight grained Canadian White oak sitting in the shop which is almost a waterproof wood in itself, so it became this set of scales... I wanted to still give it a bit of 'Pizazz' so I used a Bloodwood wedge sheathed in thin brass to set off the gold etch on the blade, and the brass pins and stacked washers....

hmmm, not sure if you're looking for opinions or not, but I'll give mine anyway (haha, I always do anyway ) .

The work is outstanding! Especially the wedge work. but... I think there's too deep of a grain in the wood. but that doesn't seem to go well with that blade. The wedge work, although exquisite, is a bit of a jump from the scales, and the blade is a larger jump from there. I guess, to my eye, each piece by itself is wonderful but they don't seem to go together well.
Just my preference. (maybe I'm just still stunned by the acrylic marvel you showed previously).

[Edit] (thinking that could be taken out of context...) ALL of Glen's stuff is up in that "exotic car" bracket. It's like saying "that Ferrari doesn't strike my particular preference"

I quite like the contrast between the almost hewn look of the scales & the more delicate work to the wedge. Nice work Glen!

I love the scales and the blade is definitely beautiful too. For whatever, reason the oaks and north American hardwoods have a simplistic yet classy look. I think the contrast of the wedge is neat too, though its a bit much for me. If I were a Dovo man I would definitely want that razor.
    Great Job!

As waterproof as it may be, oak is quite acidic and should never be left unsealed next to or in contact with a blade.

    Nice work, very... beefy.
