Thanked: 1324911/16 Otto Deutsch "Hans" vintage restore
This is a scales on vintage restore, seems I don't get to do many of these anymore...
Don't get me wrong I love doing the customs scales and using the tumblers and buffers to bring out those near perfect mirrors finishes that we all love so much...
Every now and then somebody wants them left alone,so they come home as close to factory as we as restorers can get them...
I truly hope the Mike took some pics of the rust on this one before he sent it my way because of course I didn't take before pics (I don't know, I just forget)
This is an Otto Deutsch & Sohne "Hans" razor, an 11/16 full Singing hollow... If you haven't shaved one of these yet and you like hollow grinds you should try and find one....
I only used sandpaper, WD-40, MAAS, one rag, and my hands to restore this one, this is the finish you can get if you stay after it, unfortunately these delicate full hollows don't have much steel to mess with so you have to be careful how far you take them, so it is normally a balance between snapping a blade, and getting them shiny...
If you look very, very, very, close, about 3/4 of an inch down from the toe you can just make out a slight frown from the steel loss of the rust that was there, I'll even it up here in awhile when I go hone some razors....

That is one suh-weet looking razor, Glen. Very nice job! I love the ornate classics. Did you de-pin and re-pin?

Cool. I asked because most of the pics of your restored razors I can't tell the difference from your re-pin jobs to original they're that good.
Nice job.
