    Default My first restoration...

Well here it is, My first attempt at restoring a razor. It's a Keen Kutter 5/8 that was really pitted and rusted. The scales are palm wood that I stabilized myself. I used about 20-30 coats of CA, thin Hyperbond from Rabid Models.com. I used #0-80 hex head brass screws and brass flat washers for the pins and put a 1/4" mosaic pin inlayed on the scales. I know the front pins are way off, but I messed up drilling the hole, twice! I can't drill in a straight line or draw one either! Got to get a drill press! Forgot to take a pic of the wedge. It's a piece of American Holly. The white of the Holly is a good contrast to the palm wood. I also used nylon #0 washers for spacers on the pivot. I was really proud of it until I looked at some of the razors you all restored, but it is my first attempt and I have alot of room for improvement. Oh well, it's going to my brother-in-law for a present anyhow. More to come and most definitely better! Thanks for looking and God Bless you all!
