    Default Fredrick Reynolds

Here is a razor I made scales for about a year ago .
It's a Fredrick Reynolds 5/8 , scaled in purpleheart wood . The tang liners , and spacer are nickel silver , and it's held together with Dovo pins .

Thanks , actually they are nickel silver , the lighting in the pics makes them look like brass . I glued them to the wood with Gorrila glue , and carefully filed them so that they only make contact with the tang in the pivot hole area . This was somewhat time consuming , but well worth the effort . These liners not only strengthen the wood at the pivot area , but also keep the tang from rubbing against the wood .

Interesting concept with the tang liners. Some nickel escutcheons would look good too.
The scales match the slim blade nicely. Is it blued or a natural patina ?

Thanks , I think I will make fancy N/S escutcheons on the next set . Back when I made these scales I couldn't find any N/S rod to make pins from , so I used Dovo pins . The blade is not blued although the pics make it look like it is . It does have some patina , but it's not as dark as it appears . This blade is a great shaver , the swayback spine , and smiling blade make it easy to use .
