Those first scales look like a coffee you've just poured cream into! It's a beautiful razor, but to be honest, i like the second one best. The pinning at the wedge is a great detail!
What is the process to get that satin effect? I love it!

Gary, nice job. I like the satin finish better than mirror.

+ 1 on the satin finish.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Let me add my love of satin. Can you tell how to achieve that finish? I'd love to use it...
Also, fantastic scale work. Just gorgeous...as always!

Jim,I wet grind with hard stones to 1200 grit remove all imperfections and correct the geometry(very fine as ground finish). Then finish with a 600 grit 6dia 1 face flap wheel. It is a real time consuming deal to do it rightI have used 800 grit flaps, but that is a little too shinny,maybe...looks about like the finish on a new Dovo.I have seen this type of finish used to cover up imperfections(Iguess thats Ok for a cheaper razor),so you have to be careful who you buy from razors with this finish. It takes as long to do as a mirror finish, but holds oil,and is easy to keep clean and stain free. My best regards Gary
