Default Le Grelot / Burmese rosewood scales

TI, Le Grelot rescaled in Burmese Rosewood.

Just finished this beast for a good customer in Thailand. Thanx for the extra timber David.

Request was for classic shape & roundish ends. Right up my alley.
No work on the blade other than a little selective tarnish clean up.
Quite a challenge to pin. Slightly bent tang ( first pic)
Broke one scale on the first attempt but all good in the end.

2000 grit burnished oil finish. It takes time but I love the patina & the feel, mirror at one angle pure timber at another and it just gets better the more you handle it. Easy to repair any scratches too which is just as well. Had to do some trimming after it finally pinned up.

Black acrylic wedge. I'm likin' plastics. Can feel a set of scales comin'
Domed brass over flat stainless washers. Brass pins.
    Brass thrust washers.

Very nicely done! The wood, style and blade match perfectly w/ the classic look you were working towards. I love the wood and the finish. It all fits together perfectly.

Excellent work Onimaru! The grain in the wood goes perfectly with the lines of the razor! The whole project has an air of old world craftsmanship! Way to go!

I'd never have changed those scales. They looked pretty good.........until you take a look at the new ones! They are absolutely beautiful. Great work. Should be a happy customer!

Really nice looking work. The wood pops on that razor and gives it a real air of classiness. I'm sure it's owner will be very happy and proud.

I AM the owner.....and i'd like to take the opportunity to thank Oz for his great work on this LeGrelot.
Living in Thailand, you sometimes come across woods/supplies that are exotic in other places, but kind of commonplace here. Seeing the box gave me an idea for using the Burmese rosewood for a set of scales.

Oz was great to work with on this 'conversion'. He kept in touch through every step of the project, sending me pictures of his progress along the way. His suggestions were spot on and always appreciated!

Oz....you make sure you shave with that thing first, if you like!
And, SRP members, if you ever need a first-class guy to work with, you'll find none better than Oz.

Thanx everyone for your kind comments & especially David for the opportunity to work with that pretty timber. Nice close grain & easy to work.

I'm with Ben on the changeover. I liked the original scales a lot but the new ones a lot more.

Very nice job! I like the simplicity of the scales. It matches well with the razor.
