Thanked: 13245The Fleeman Razor - vintage restore
This one came to me from my good friend here on SRP "JMS" he asked that I try and keep the scales in one piece but they had to be re-pinned... Somebody sometime in the past had beat the pivot pin into submission and the pins were starting to disappear into the sacles....We decided that first I would try and save the scales but it that failed I would try and lift the inlayed design and move it to new custom scales... Thank God the old scales held
When I un-pinned the razor I found of course a bent pin and no internal washers....
I cleaned up the scales and got them ready to go back together... and found some vintage thrust washers to go back in there this time....
The razor had a few Dremel marks, those zig zag things that a Dremel leaves when somebody just quickly tries one out... I took the blade to the low speed buffer, and started at 120 grit Grease-less compound went through 600 grit, then switched to the high speed buffer and Stainless and Chrom polishing compound.... the finish is near perfect in person, hope you like that Mark....
I made new pins and used the smallest washers I could, and tried to match the original pins as close as possible.....
So here is the restored Fleeman, as close as I could get it to the day it was sold.....

No wonder you're happy JMS.
Well done Glen. Nice original resto
Not ever an easy job to keep older plastics in one piece. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 13245No this one I had to get those Dremel marks off the blade so I used the buffing wheels ....
I used the new Naniwa's for sharpening on this one Mark, I wanted to know what you thought of the edge and the smoothness of those stones... The more I use them the more I like them... I finished this one on a few passes on the CeOx bench strop, I was really going after smooth here....

Just a little update. With the exception of the first two weeks that I received this razor I have been shaving with "The Pharaoh's razor" exclusively and have not even been tempted to use another razor!!
Thanks again Glen for bringing this razor back to life for me!!
