Thanked: 735Wood paneled scales
Slapped some birdseye maple onto the standard plastic scales that came on this stainless beauty.
Again, I didn't use the dremel on the blade (take that you Traditionalists!)......it already had a jimped thumbnotch, and you just can't beat that!Last edited by Seraphim; 07-02-2009 at 04:37 PM.

Great idea! I've got a few leftover nasty plastic ones. I was going to bin them, but maybe not now. Looks good.

Thanked: 735Thanks guys (and gals!).
Yes, I had to dissasemble the scales to do it, sand the sides flat to get a uniform surface to glue the veneer to, then re-assemble them. But that allowed me to go pinless at the wedge again. Probably should have gone for a sexy wedge color, but I got lazy and just used what came with the scales to begin with (white).
Last razor was maple under acrylic, this one is maple over acrylic (with CA overcoat).
The balance seemed nice with the stock scales, so I decided to try and make use of them. Wasn't really the short-cut I had hoped for, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out.
