Wade & Butcher Restoration
Here is a blade that was sent to Max, when I saw it I could not comprehend the pulchritude brought forth, what appeared to be irreversible now is a work of art. I believe the scales are Bocote.

What a surprise Brian when I noticed your thread. I'm really happy you are so excited. It's the small things that makes life such a wonderful thing.
Since I didn't send you all the pics I'll just add a few as this time I took a few to show the tapered wedge which is maple. The wood used, you are correct, is Boocote.
Enjoy the shave too since it took a really nice and sharp edge.

In the interest of "originality", can we see a photo pf the razor fully open?... so the uninitiated will know that some razors are actually designed with the toe smaller than the heel.
Nice scales BTW Max, and so far the blade work looks fantastic… and congratulations Bigbee I am sure she will be a fine shaver for many years to come.

Thanked: 1072Beautiful work Max. You sure make it hard for us novice restorers to look good, but man you give us something to aspire to.

was it really designed that way or was it just really really really heavy toe hone wear?
gorgeous scales, great wedge. your usual perfection.

Well, I was thinking the same thing and I tried to analyze that razor for a very long time. I couldn't find any excessive hone wear that would indicate it being wrongly honed with to much pressure on the toe. It practically didn't have any hone wear.
Unless they used electrical tape 100 years ago
The patina, staining and crap on the razor also indicated it wasn't used for a very very long time and it just seemed it was halted in time and put aside for the next owner to wake her up. Also notice how high up the spine the barber's notch is located.
IMO, it was designed or made this way.
