Dubl Duck Satinwedge in Blue Mosaic acrylic
This blade is my very first regrind. It was about to go into the trash when all the sudden I found myself protecting my nads with leather from all the flying sparks in my garage....
this blade is now slightly more wedgie than it once was, and I lost 1/16 of the width (5/8 --> 9/16). The grind isn't perfect...but, for a complete noob I think I did OK. If you pinch the blade with your thumb and index finger and run it down the spine you can feel its not perfectly even. I kept this blade very cool during the process, I was very scared so it went pretty slowly.
Having a few flaws hasn't stopped it from taking a wicked edge using 1 piece of tape during the honing... all I've done is give it 20 minutes on a dmt600 and its shaving my arm hairs like nothing, so, I assume by the time I actually get to a decent stone it will be amazing.
Scales are blue acrylic with a mosaic design... spacer is white acrylic, kinda swirly white, but, not very noticable. Hardware is SS washers, nickel silver rod.
I'm gonna keep this one for a while I think and shave with it to make sure it holds an edge before it goes on the auction block. lol
Attached is a before picture, and then lots of the finished product.Last edited by Undream; 07-30-2009 at 02:35 AM.

Nice work...Now that you have the first one behind you, you will soon be turning them out and you'll be happier with the results too. It looks good and the scales are real nice also. CONGRATS!!

Very nice work, I guess you did not want to go for the tranfer of the insignia. That would be very interesting. I have seen a couple of completed project that rested in some exotic wood and transferred the insignia's on the wood. It was rather appealing. Enjoy it. Nice results.

Actually, I used the inlays already on another satinwedge blade that I had --and yes, I moved them over into rosewood.
sooo....nothing wasted except some bad rotting celluloid

Very nice work. A great turnaround considering it's near fate in the bin! Did you manage to keep the blade cool enough. That's what's deterred me from a proper regrind so far.
