Bengall Imperial
This one is for a Bengall collecting buddy of mine in Tasmania. I did a few of these 2 tone scaled ones for him last year but this one's been sitting in the queue for months. It was only in for a re scale but I couldn't help myself & gave the blade a cleanup too.
Scales are a hard burnished oil finish. Initial sanding to 600 grit then oil was rubbed in with wet n dri 600 - 2000 grit to accelerate the cure time thru friction. Timbers are Purpleheart & Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafrass.
Brass pins, washers & thrust washers. Wedge is black acrylic.
Blade is a stiff half hollow 6/8 & is a killa shaver, typical of the make.
Apologies to the OCD'ers who need symmetry on scales

The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Very nice...I like the look of those Bengalls, but I can't put my finger on why, exactly. You certainly housed a fine looking blade in some sweet scales, though!

Nice job all the way around!! I'm familiar with purpleheart, and the blackheart sassafrass looks like it's nice as well - the finish looks silky smooth.
If you still have the razor with you, could you post a photo of it taken in sunlight - I'd like to see how those colors look in daylight. Thanks!

while it would of course look better with matching scales, I love the shape and lines of those, beautifully done. that blade is great too, I like the decoration on the tang. man, one more I'll have to get one day.

This one reminds me of the batman character two face. It's a unique design, and it's actually starting to grow on me the more I look at it.

But seriously now, a Bengall collecting buddy in Tasmania?? What's going on there? Brisbane is way closer to you than Tasmania!!
