Well I'm trying to learn to take decent pictures and these are of a blade recently re-scaled. I don't think I have the lighting right yet but I'm working on it

Can you give us a bit more specifics as to what wood you used? (there's many different kinds of rosewood) what finish? Did you also do something on the blade?

The wood, well I got that from a neighbor. I got 2 planks of 4/4 about 5 feet long each. All he said was rosewood and I liked the look of it. I'll see if I can get more info and maybe post a picture of a plank. The blade was buffed with black emery and a cloth wheel, but it didn't take much. I have 2 mark 32 razors and both came with a good finish on them and no rust at all. I'm tempted to remove the scales and use Max's formula and take it black to white to blue to green. I'll include some pictures of the second one that is unbuffed for comparison. The finish on the wood is just 4 coats of poly. There must be some oil in the wood that keeps it from drying because it takes about a week for the first coat to dry.

Oh,I should have mentioned the scales on the second Helje are walnut with walnut stain and 4 coats of poly.

Just a thought , I'm not a poly fan. If the wood is oily why not try an oil finish ?
