Default The Silver Star By Max

I bought this razor on UK e bay a year or so ago , it was a total wreck, really dirty and stained, fit only for the trash when it arrived. I wanted to persevere for two reasons, firstly because it was unusual and secondly I loved the name "Silver Star".
A decision was made to employ the "High priest" or Za'ayin Gadol" as we say in Hebrew, of razor restoration, in the form of Mad Max.

He did exactly as I asked retaining the etching on the blade as but still cleaning it to a very high standard, the scales quite frankly are a miracle , they were so badly stained yet I was insistent on keeping them.

Sadly I have no before pictures, but believe me another amazing job by Max.
If anybody has any knowledge or history about the Silver Star razor I'd appreciate it

I'm curious, did Max repin the scales? The pins look original to me. Nice looking razor. Enjoy.

I did unpin the razor. There's no other way you can do a full restoration on a blade. I had recuperated the original washers when unpinning. The only thing that's not original anymore is the new nickel silver rod pin I had to use.

that is a cool razor, glad you salvaged something unique. Max good work man, judging by other before pictures I've seen I can imagine what a transformation this was.

Size: 63.3 KB I realize this an ancient thread....although not in razor years :-) I found another one of these and I'm hoping I can find out more. It's beautiful and in great shape. There was a STAR razor company in Germany in 1900 or so but also very little information. The fact that it says 'price" rather than the German "preis" leads me to suspect it was for the English speaking market. I originally thought it might have something to do with the U.S. Silver Star Award, but being made in Germany, that might be a false lead.Name: The_Walterlan_and_Silver_Star-1.jpg
