Default Restored Joseph Rodgers & Sons

I had told you about the sheffield my grandparent gave me...

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...ng-advice.html

Now it's finished, I managed to remove all rust, it still has some very light pitting in some places, but I'm happy with the result. Sent it for honing and it came in the mail yesterday, so this night I'll shave with it, but it looks like a fantastic shaver.

The scales are ivory, not horn as I though at first. I don't like ivory, and was tempted to order some new scales, but finally I decided to keep the razor as my grandpa used it. Showed it to him yesterday, and he couldn't believe it was the same blade.

Thanks for all the tips you gave me in the original thread, thanks to your help I can shave with my grandfathers heirloom

    A couple of pics:

Very nice razor I shouldnt worry too much about the scale material, it looks very much like bone to me (cow ?) though its always hard to be sure from a photo. The black specs are a giveaway, they usually indicate blood vessels in bone which are not present in ivory.

    All the best

You did very well. I love those razors. Glad you kept the scales in place, too.

Terrific! I consider you a lucky man; and wise -leaving the scales.

That is a beautiful razor you have there and that it's your Grandfather's makes it even more special. I'm glad you kept the scales also.

    +1 Does look like bone.
Congrats on such a nice keepsake. Will be a great shaver.

Those scales are definately bone, not ivory...but how can u say u dont like ivory! Razor looks great, I have a Rodgers very similar but sadly it is not an heirloom like yours...I did ask my grandfather if he had any, but he said he used to use DEs..
