Joseph Rodgers 13/16 Resto'd to Original
Customer requested to save scales. Good choice.
I actually saved the original washers, with some careful drilling. The wedge end of these scales were actually never unpinned, I just worked around it.
in order to re-use the washers on the pivot end, the peens had to be a bit larger than the wedge end. Thats about the only giveaway that this razor has been unpinned. I tried to keep it a perfect match otherwise.
It is honed up and delivers an excellent shave.

I used a 3/64th drill bit, and carefully drilled out the pin.

Fantastico!
Brad - Looks beautiful! You did such excellent work on the blade and and tang; I can't wait to get this baby back and see how she shaves.
The scales look so much healthier than what we started with. They were so interesting, I just knew you had to save them. That translucent horn cleaned up well. Fantastic all around - I don't imagine she looked much different 120 years ago!

Great job. Did the washers have a backing washer underneath? I assume you took the photo of the razor resting on its edge prior to honing it. I had to admit I gritted my teeth in a bit of a cringe when I saw that picture.
