Default J.A. Henckels "Platinum" in Burgundy Micarta

The owner of this blade has shaved with it for 50 YEARS. about 4 years ago, his handles cracked, and he continued right on shaving with it.

He had one and only request: Give him the most durable, reasonably priced material I had. He didn't care about color. it was all about utility to him. How cool is that. He was ready for another 50 years.

I hope he can pass on this razor to the next generation and they appreciate it as well as he did.

Nickel Silver rod, SS washers, Brass internal washers, White acrylic spacer.

In chat, Max swore up and down this looks like Ebony, but, the sandpaper doesnt lie --there was red dust everywhere

LOL. Sorry about the big pics....

oh who am I kidding.. you guys prolly want them even bigger, am I right

Gorgeous work, and a beautiful story as well. You can tell that blade has been very carefully cared for!

Definitely. I was amazed at the condition when I pulled it out of the box...in 2 pieces (scales + blade)...

I'm going to give him a fresh honing and use some paste -- He has probably never used anything like that before -- just leather and linen... Maybe I can give him an even better shave

If I was the owner, I would have wept upon seeing this restore.
    Nice work.

Beautiful razor. I'm sure the owner will love it to bits (again) . Amazing how gentle use can preserve a razor so well.

    Good work!
