    Default Green Lizards 131C & 131B

This is a Green Lizard 131C. Not a great example of the make but just shows it's possible take a $13 POS razor & get it to shave. Yeah, I know I paid too much
Looked like it came off the "Titanic" but the cheap bastard in me wasn't going to trash it. I'm making up for all the 'before' pics I never post with this one by also adding some pics showing what was under the red rust. Not a sight for the faint hearted. Anyho it was a lemonade from lemons situation.

    Default 131C 'after pics'

So this is how it looks now.
The mark side came up ok & the tang stamp is kinda legible. Didn't think that would happen.
I took a jeweller's file to the bottom jimps but only enough to get some definition back. The pile side is a lot worse & pitting was too deep to sand out. The scales belong to the follow up razor which I swapped out as it was the prettier of the 2 & I felt it deserved the better scales that this one had. You can see slight brown staining at the wedge end from where someone burnt them. So as a workhorse it's now joined the remuda de caballos.

    Default 131B

Next up is the 131B & I'm back to only 1 'before' pic. Oh well at least you can see the burn marks at the wedge I mentioned previously. The pivot pin on this one was seriously welded to the blade from corrosion & I was lucky to get the scales off in one piece. The blade looks less rusty but all that light grey patching is from pitting. I'd say it was dipped in some kind of de-rusting chemical.
It did clean up well tho & is a healthy blade with little hone wear.
Last pic is in a harsh light but shows the logo up well.
No comment on the shaves but I'll just say both razors have earned permanent residency in my collection. No green card needed

Looks like a much improved Lizard now and I for one would be really interested in how it shaves

WOW. that was an ambitious mission to take on. That was some nasty pitting on the first one. Beauftiul outcome though.

Those are excellent shavers Oz and I think you got ripped off big time for paying $13.00

Sometimes there's only so much you can do like Lizard 131C. It beats a funeral and those to be buried razors get a second life. That's what it's all about. Great job on the 131B.

    Clean and healthy looking lizards.

Amazing work. Those scales are awesome too - did you restore the logo somehow, or did you just give them a buff?

It's amazing how these old rusty razor shine up. Nice job on both! Love those green scales.

Great job. I would have thought that the pitting along the edge of # 1 would've been too deep to avoid the edge becoming swiss cheese once honed up. Truly from lemon to lemonade.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
