Default 8/8 Greaves & Son Sheafworks ¼ hollow in green/gold pearl scales

This is an old Greaves & Sons Sheafworks razor. The blade was in decent condition, some pantina and staining, no pitting. The original scales were old broken buffalo horn. The blade is 8/8 at its wides and just under 7/8 at the smallest. It was forged that way, not worn that way. The blade is basically new old stock. It has never seen a hone. I gave the blade a high grit sanding and buffed it up to a mirror finish.

The scales are a green/gold pearl synthetic. The pearlescence is lost in the photos, looks even better in person. I square cut the end of the scales and went with two small pins instead of one large. I think it balances nicer. The wedge is a pearl synthetic. The pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass washers on the toe end and a brass over stainless on the pivot. The blade has brass thrust bearing.

This one is going into my rotation for a very long time. I honed up the blade and it shaves out of this world. The blade took a very keen edge and just glides over the face. A wonderful razor.

Razor looks great . Scales look great... & it gives you a 10/10 shave.

Very VERY nice Dave. Is that the first project out of the new digs? That poor townhouse community will never be the same.

Those scales look so good! Even in the photo's they shimmer. I'd be happy with that.

Nope, still living in a little apartment. The house build was pushed back another month. End of November now. I am hand working everything, coping saw, sand paper and a dremel are the extent of my tools right now.

I have another set I am finishing up today. Same pearl look but black and silver. Got a 7/8 W&B chopper that is going in them. That one will end up in the Classifieds. Cut a second smaller set for a smaller blade that will end up in the classifieds as well.
