Thanked: 74How is the material for weight? Is it heavy or light? My impression is that it would be a little on the heavy side.

Thanked: 13245This one has a balance pic in there, this does not make or break a razor BTW, in fact Bill Ellis and I disagree totally on this aspect... But your answer is important to me...
Thank you in advance

Thanked: 3I think it is light weight, similar to wood. But since I am now making a set of wood scales, which is more difficult to work than Corian because of grain and texture, as an experiment on the next set I will complete the set in wood (strengthened with Min Wax wood hardener and finished) and then do a similar set in Corian and then weigh the two of them. Corian does not chip out when using carbide router blades set in a router in a router table and is easy to sand and work with.
It might "look" heavy because it looks like granite or something, but it is, after all, some sort of plastic.Last edited by StrungHiStrung; 10-06-2009 at 05:23 PM.

Thanked: 3will get back to you on the balancing point thing, btw the Bengall razor shaves great after two tries at honing (using 3,000, 8,000, SWATY, 1 micron diamond paste on balsa, .5 micron diamond paste on balsa and then leather strop made from new strap leather from a harness shop still doing business in St. Paul, MN), that honing thing is also going to drive me crazy as another razor that I did the same way, at the same time, did NOT get sharp, but the Bengall got "shave ready"

Congrats on your first. Great job.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 74Thanks for the pic, doesn't look like corian is much heavier than micarta (if at all).
