Thanked: 13249Filarmonica 6/8 Doble Temple in Senegal Ebony
This is for our very own Gugi:
Started out a messy 6/8 Filly Double Temple I got broken scales and a loose inlay... Gugi wanted Ebony and I got African Blackwood /Senegal Ebony for him this actually was a rather nice piece with a touch of figure in the wood...
Now about the inlay, this was the tightest I have done as of yet, without actually craving the inlay into the wood which doesn't always look that good.. So the other night in chat we were BS'n and Spazola/Charlie pipes up with "Glen stick them on a piece of pine and smack em with a hammer"... Hmmmmmmm I start thinking wondering if he was joking or he was serious....
So the next day I set the Filly symbol in place on the Ebony figuring I could always make another set of scales if I broke them... I took a 3 lb sledge and smacked them, Holy Crap it sorta worked I had a slight indent HA !!!!
I CA'd the inlay in place and built from there....
Polished out the blade and even managed to keep the etch using Turtle Wax Rubbing compound on a Dremel felt wheel...
Pins are all brass.. Finish is 10 coats of wipe on poly, and a red Acrylic wedge...
Hope you like it Gugi
