F. Herder - 15/16 - Blonde OX - Near Wedge
I'm just a sucker for big blades. I haven't seen many of the F. Herder blades in a big sized heavy grind as we're always used to the big W&B's and others.
The blade got completely restored and buffed to a high shine. The usual tarnish, surface pitting, blemishes and century of crap around the pivot and tang area. As to the scales I was asked to use blonde OX horn and mostly brass pins and double pinned tapered wedge with specific pointers as to the design and looks.
I honed this baby up this morning and it took an amazing edge. I did spend one hour just setting the bevel but once the bevel was set strangely enough it took very little to finish the edge. It took an edge very similar to the big 8/8 W&B's.
Got to love tose heavy grinds.
Enjoy.Last edited by Maximilian; 12-06-2009 at 07:31 PM. Reason: typos

NICE !!!. The horn is just a perfect match
