I really like that razor as im a huge fan of sheffield razors; understated at least when in the closed position.functional yet beautiful. is the front pin original it looks big but that could be from the pivot pins scale. also what is your procces for polishing the scales. Im restoring a Greaves wedge right now that sadley some one put the the grinder prior to my getting it so Im gonna start with 60! grit and work up to 2800 mesh

Thank you, the wedge pin is the original it has bullseye washers that make it look huge, I am not at the moment geared up for bullseye's so the pivot pin has a more standard set up.

The scales were polished using a sisal mop and grey compound (set up in a bench drill so its not too fast.. burning horn... yummy!) to lightly remove the grain, followed by a cotton mop and brown compound and another with green, I finish then with a hand buff using Mer polish.

My Joseph Rodgers had 6 numbers burnt into its horn scales and to remove them I used 320 grit paper, followed by fine wire wool, then onto the cloth mop with brown, another with green, etc, they came out very well indeed, you can just see a slight dip near the pivot that I didnt quite work out as I was worried they were getting too thin.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I like that razor alot and I love the fact that you kept it very clean and elegant looking. A worthy restored razor that should make Wade & Butcher very proud.

    Good job.

Why thank you Sir Max, that to me is praise indeed, and I have to agree that some old Razors look just peachy as an original restore.
