Thread: Latest restoration 5/8 Henckels #81 mirror polished

I've been away for a while, and thought it's about time for me to post something...
Finished this one earlier today, and plan on honing it in the morning.
It's a 5/8 Henckels #81
I found it rusting in an antique shop last year, and just recently got to it.
I polished it to al true mirror polish using 3 micron diamond paste on a buffing wheel, and frequent breaks to keep the metal cool...
then finished it by hand with 0.5 micron paste.
Instead of rescaling, I used the diamond paste and reshaped the scales...
Restored to as close to original as possible.
I'll look for old pictures, but heres the finished product...

It's good to see a familiar face... er eye... return to the forums. Oh how I've missed that reptile eye and the HHT gif.

I'm sure that is a beautiful razor, but you are correct, the pictures don't do her justice.
