Default Crown & Sword 6/8 with broken scale

This one came with a broken scale through the wedge pin hole, but they're such cool scales they had to be saved. I made a new acrylic wedge as long as the blade would allow. Epoxied the scale back together, then epoxied the new wedge to the broken scale to help hold it together. Sanded and buffed and you can hardly see the crack.
The blade had a nice patina that I wanted to keep but there was some active rust that had to go. So the blade just got the minimum hand sanding which meant the etch also survived.
Looking forward to trying this one.
    Cheers
    Grant

Looks fine Grant. I have a few in the same condition, glued break at the wedge pin. I prefer original as far as I can safely use them. Re-scaling can always be done later if needed. Glad to see others like the original state also.

Yep, nicely done Grant and those Ern 1166 razors take a wicked sharp edge. Lovely shavers.

I just reworked a Crown & Sword for my uncle that had the Crown & Sword emblem raised on the scale. The back scale was broke, which he wanted replaced, but I broke the front scale (the one with raised emblem) while working on it. Glued the scale I broke, replace the back scale and honed it up. Of course I had to test shave and as Max said they take a wicked edge and shave great.......just wish I didn't have to send it back.

Oh my!, that's a fantastic restore.
A tribute to those long gone craftsmen who designed these tools with such embellishments.

Glad to see more folks saving the scales and restoring to original.
