Default Wade&Butcher Celebrated hollow ground in two tone Amboyna burl and gloss resin

This is a restore for another SRP member. It is a 7/8 Wade and Butcher The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor. The blade looked like it was gun blued when I received it, completely black with light rusting. The blade got an extensive high grit sanding to clean it up. I would have liked to sanded it a touch more but I went as far as I could with the blade etching. Then it got a buffing progression to bring it to a high luster finish. There is very little to to hone ware on the razor.

The scales are two tone Amboyna burl. The pivot end being the heartwood and the wedge end bing the sap wood. I gave the scales two pours of epoxy resin to build up the thickness of the finish. There is a solid 2/32nds thick finish which gives the wood super depth in graining and color. It looks better in person. The pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers. The blade has brass thrust bearings. The wedge is a pearl acrylic.

The blade honed up easy and took a very nice edge. Shaves like a knife through butter. This is one of those I hate to see go.

If I were you, I would tell the guy the post office lost it! That's just phenomonal! I love the way you went to the high luster rather than the mirror finish on the blade, I think it looks far closer to what you would expect from a new blade. Stacked washers are great as well as the wood and finish.

Absolutely gorgeous!! Love the 2 tone wood.

I've been looking for a W&B Celebrated to restore. I can only aspire to get the results you have obtained.

Very nice! I am digging the Tulipwood brush as well! What is the process like for the epoxy resin? And where would you pick up all the supplies for that?
