Default "Sway" Custom in progress: the rough grind

Woohoo, finally got to take some time in the shop today so I put the rough grind on a blank I had from my test cutting run. I made this design up and I've always called it "sway" in my head... so that's what I'm going with. The razor is a 7/8, and I ground this on a 4" wheel so there is a decent amount of hollow to it. It is still thick at the edge for HT purposes, but man I think my grinding is getting better... this one went much smoother than my first go a while back.

More to come soon, but here is one picture. I roughed on 40 grit then worked it up to about 400 so far, then I hit it briefly with the buffer and some compound b/c I think it helps me see any uneven spots. There is still some buffing compound on here if you see a smudge or two... but I'm pretty happy right now.

I'll drill the tang, shape the spine and it will be headed to HT, keep your fingers crossed for me

    Cheers
    Dave

Love a smiling blade myself. That is a real looker.

The blade has a very nice shape to it, I like it a lot. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures.

What kind of machine did you grind it on?
