Thread: Custom Razor continued: Traditional spike point

Hey fellas, here is my latest grinding work... This one is a more traditional profiled spike point project. At this point just the rough grind is done... (I'm going to wait to do heat treat until I have a few ready).

here is the blank I started with


And here is my grinder (it's an old Delta Rockwell that I've updated some)


First thing I do is put a center line on my blank (there are lots of ways to do this and shouldn't require too much thought)


then I start a-grindin'
Here is my rough grind... it's about ready to go to HT

Lookin' good. Is the spine ridged ? round? square?

I honestly don't know enought to make a decent comment, but thanks for the pics Dave!
It's always cool to see how someone puts a project togeather.

oh yeah, I didn't mention that... spine has not been ground yet. I'm debating on filework or a round spine.

Thanks for this thread, I will be following it. The step by step pictures are great.
