That thing looks wicked..... I bet just shaving with that will make you tougher...... Seriously though that is a very cool design.

You might be able to inlay a shark tooth into the scales... The sharkskin sounded interesting, too.

How about one of those Meglodon teeth? Might not be to heavy if you cut it thin and and mounted it on some thin G10?
