Red face 1st Restore - The Electric Eagle

I received this razor from my partners great aunt, after talking about my interest in the straights.

It was a little bung up 2 start with, scales are horrid, and a touch of pitting, but still had some character and a story or 2 to tell.

1st thing to do was remove the scales to better access the blade for sanding. Starting at 240 Grit, I worked my way up to 1200. + a touch of the dremel in there as well..

(I did learn a valuable lesson with dremels and etching.... They really don't like each other... )

I was thinking of something else while sanding with the dremel, when it clicked which side of the razor I was on, Luckily the 'extra' sanding didn't ruin the etching.

Another good lesson learned while, hand sanding 'sideways' make sure the blade in flat again's the table or facing away from you... A lesson that took 2 'good' cuts to learn from....

Few deep scratches from the dremel, but over all, still happy with the 1st attempt so far, as the saying goes we learn from our mistakes.

The Razor still needs scales, and to be honed I'm thinking of natural wood for the scales, but have a few things to chase up on 1st etc. But here are the before and afters..
