B.J. Eyre / Greaves in Black Horn
More horn! They are an exact replacement for the original cracked scales, same size and shape. unbleached cow bone spacer, brass hardware. A bit of pitting left on the blade, nothing too serious though forgot to bring a before pic with me to work, will have to add it later!
Enjoy!

Niiice!
Awesome work Brad, and that little bit of patina still on the blade really adds a great "olde worlde" vibe to the razor!
Beautiful!

When you run greaseless compound on a blade, you "soften" the lines associated with hone wear, and so it appears as though it has been repaired.
If I had taken this blade to the hones without tape, the hone wear would have re-appeared in a similar size/shape. However, i used one layer of electrical tape during honing, so, the honewear is... well, I wouldn't say hidden, but, still rounded off / softened by the greaseless and buffing and polishing. The flat spots on the electrical tape during honing were clearly evident that there would have been honewear visible on this razor had I not used the tape.
The only way to truly repair honewear is by re-grinding a razor.
if that makes sense.. heh.
