You do nice work Ronnie! How long did it take you to get the blade to that finish and what method did you use on it?

The finished razor is a beauty!

I started with greaseless compound from 80 grit up to 600. From there emery, blending bar, green, and pink bars. In all, time on refinishing 2 - 3 hours.

    Thanks!

Thanks Ronnie. We're on the same page. When I started restoring blades CarrieM picked me up a project wedge with a great smile for $3. I had at least that into the greasekess and buffing. Every now and then she picks me up one of those. I think she is trying to keep me in the shop and out of antique stores. They are a real prize when finished though and your Mappin came out great!

That is a nice restoration considering the shape the razor was in before. This must be the Mappin and Webb that you posted about earlier. From what I can tell, you can get away with more issues on wedge style razors than hollow style razors. It looks like you were able to save some of the tang stamp. Were you able to do this on both sides of the razor? Great job overall, though!

Tang stamp on both sides worked out really nice. Yes, wedge styles have more metal .

    Thanks!

Wow, that is a pretty dramatic transformation. There is a big differnce in the before and after shots. That is one good looking razor.
