Congratulations, Oz. The vintage Pumas are really something. My only Puma is a 7/8'' model #19 and it's one of my top 3 razors.
How did you removed the pitting? By hand sanding? Great job.

Thanx Leon. I know what you mean. There is really something about the Puma shave eh ? I have a 6/8 Friseur Freund & love it.

I used the evil Dremel & flap sanders then Scotchbrite buffs & compounds. I try to avoid hand sanding as a rule but sometimes its necessary. I left a lot of the pitting as it was deep & being a hollow I wanted to keep the integrity of the blade.

Well, that restores my faith on using rotary tools to restore blades

With restoring it's all about the results not the methods... tho rotary tools can have some scary results

    Nicely done Oz Man,,,

The scales really popped... The blade looks as good as it can, there was some bad stuff on there... Fantastic pics by the way, those edge pics really put all your work into perspective......

    Thanx G.
The little USB scope really helps assess things but ultimately that first time on the hones is the acid test eh.

Very nicely done! It looks like it was on the road to no return. Kudos for taking the time to bring it back into service!
