7/8 W&B Gentelmens Use in multi color translucent horn
I have restored dozens of Wade and Butcher razors but never kept one for myself. For some reason people are willing to pay a silly high premium just because of the name so I alwayse sell the restores I do. So I finally decided to look around for one to keep. I picked this guy up a few weeks ago. It was in decent condition but still needed some love.
The blade did not get any sanding, just a good buffing wheel progression to remove the pantina and some minor staining and surface rust. It took a newar mirror finish, should have taken a reflective photo to show the shine.
The blade is in nearly new condition. Take a good look at the spine and bevel, there is 0 hone ware the blade does not even appear to have a bevel set on it. I do not think it has ever seen a hone.
I decided to keep traditional with the scales. I was thinking Amboyna burl but decided to use some nice mulit colored translucent horn I had. I kept with a more traditional style scale shape. The wedge is an acrylic mother of pearl. The pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers. The horn sanded/buffed out to a nice sheen and the blade is dead on centered. I am looking forward to hitting the hones with this guy and give it a test drive.

Glad it meats with approval. I am going to hit it with the hones tonight and whack whiskers tomorrow. I have a couple other razors that need a retouch as well.

Thanked: 2591Beautiful work !!!!
Unlike the standard wedgy W&Bs, the shaveability of which I do not care about, that hollower grind shaves superbly. I am sure you will enjoy it.Stefan
