Wade & Butcher 'The Celebrated' - Gray Translucent Horn + Gold Bug Original
The W&B is a 6/8, 1/4 hollow, 'The Celebrated' with barber's notch and beautiful subtle smiling spine that was already in pretty good condition when I received it.
It got a treatment on the buffers with all my rouges and it turned out stellar with an extremely high mirror polish. The nightmare became apparent when I finally tried to peen everything together in the requested gray translucent horn scales. Talk about a bend, crooked and skewed tang. Got to deal with it all. I finally managed to get it to fit to a certain extend and considering the horrible tang problems it's a miracle it actually got fitted. lol
Tapered G10 Jade Ghost and brass/nickel silver/ss hardware.
The 6/8, 1/2 hollow, Gold bug on the other hand got a complete make-over. The scales got completely sanded down and then polished back up with wet/dry sandpaper and finished on the buffers. Those ended up looking like new again.
Blade also got polished to a clean, high shine with all my rouges.
Both are going to the hones later tonight and I will treat myself with a nice extended shave.

They both look brilliant !
Crooked, skewed, bent tangs ain't no fun tho
PS I just sold my Gold Bug & now I miss itThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
