Default Reworked Wade & Butcher in Black horn

    Hi guys,

Just thought I would share my latest little project, a reworked Wade & Butcher in Black horn.

This blade was cracked at the toe when I found it locally, so I ground out the crack with a dremel and subsequently got carried away, eventually reshaping it and grinding out the shoulders. it made for a much more aesthetically pleasing blade IMO, but came at the expense of the tang stamps.

The wedge is aluminium with brass liners. Pins are brass, washers are stainless.

There's a healthy amount of pitting remaining, and a slight 'orange peel' finish to the metal in some areas that wouldn't sand out oddly (no buffer here unfort.), but overall quite pleased.

I'll post some before shots soon.

    Cheers!

Is that one of the Extra Hollow Ground W&B's, or did you change the shape of the blade?

holli4pirating, here's a pic of the blade before. Lots of nice stamps, and of course the big crack to boot. The stamps were a worthy sacrifice in the end IMO, at least its good to go for another 100+ years now.

Shame about losing all the markings, but to be honest, I do prefer the lines of it now you've altered it. Very nice save indeed!

While I am more of a minimalist and purest when it comes to restorations I really line your work on this one. Well done!

Ditto on the purest issue. As this is an already damaged razor there is no more historical or usability left. Now there is new life put back in the blade Funny as I now have 2 W&B's awaiting my "finding" my grinder again... I have about 6 broken blades that I'm about to cut down... if I can find my gear...

Absolutely beautiful save there. The attention to detail is mind boggling. I can see the very many hours it took to bring her to the point she is and it really paid off. Bravo! Truly a work of art
