Thanked: 74Wusthof Lampo - Kingwood?
I'm not really sure of what wood this is. I picked it up at lee valley. It wasn't labeled. The wood is really dark (almost purple) and has black grain lines running through it. I re-used the original wedge (I hate making wedges for some reason) and stacked up the washers.
One of my favorite shavers

Agreed, they are great shavers. The one I have is in the original gun stock scales.
I'm a sucker for jimped thumb notches!
I like what you did with the scales.

Thanked: 74I'm glad you like what I did with the blade. I wanted to clean the tang up a little, so I popped it out of the scales, but unfortunately cracked them during the process. I wanted something that was similar in shape, but also quite narrow where you hold the razor. This seems like an alright compromise. Although, stropping could be easier. And, I don't really like the job I did pinning the wedge end together.
Must fight urge to rescale again.

It could be king wood, hard to tell from the photos. King will have some purple tint with dark graining but there are a couple other woods in the rosewood family that are similar (king wood is a rosewood, along with cocobolo, and a half dozen others).
