Thuya wood and a chopper...sorta
Well, I'm not a big razor maker but I decided that I was going to make a beauty with my favorite wood and a chopper blade I had been holding. I was determined. I have the knowledge and some experience. After totally destroying my fingers and still picking chunks of greaseless compound out of my hair, here is the final product after 3 days work.
p.s. I'm not done. I refuse to acknowledge defeat. I'll be back!!!!

Thanked: 1072Very nice work. Such a shame about that crack, hope you have some more of that beautiful wood left.

wood finish
I just did a snakewood razor and used satin finish urethane... about 5 coats sanding after each coat. I finished with Black magic wax and it turned out really nice. Thanks for asking.

It´s the thuya wood. Very nice but in my opinion not usefull for scales. Without a liner it will break very quickly. Mostly it´s too brittle. And the problem is, that you dont can see this at the beginnig of the work. Had the same problem 3 days before.

Thuya / WB 7/8 done..... Finally!!!
I just finished...apologies for the nasty pictures. I really should have waited and taken more flattering pics. Anyway, I made another rear scale and it looks pretty good. Thuya is a beautiful burl and a hard wood but working with burl wood is a bear. (Next razor will be snakewood).
Let me know what you think.... Thanks!
