Wacker wedge in two tone Amboyna
This is one of my razors, and frankly it is one of if not the best shaver in my collection which has surpased a few hundred over the past few years. It is silver steel, wedge grind round point. I have customs that cost literally 10X more than this razor but have never surpassed it's shave. The blade is nicely engraved. I did give the blade a light polish to buff it up a bit but no alterations beyond that.
It originally had black buffalo scales but I decided to dress it up a bit with some two tone Amboyna burl. This is some of the deepest red I have seen in Amboyna and I have worked a lot of Amboyna burl. The scales are finished in high gloss epoxy resin. Pins are 1/16 brass rod with my usual brass over stainless washers. Wedge is Ebony.
Eye candy time.

Beautiful work as usual. LOVE the combination of woods done with the "line" vertical, but I don't seem to like many of the ones I've seen with it horizontal.

Wacker wedge . . .
Hello, Cannonfodder:
I especially like the sleek design of the scales framed in the rustic tone. A lovely razor.
Regards,
Obie

That is not a laminate. The wood grew that way. It is a combonation of sap wood and heart wood. Problem with a horizontal split is that the junction of the heart and sap wood is a weak point. If that junction happens around a pin, the scales could split in half. The resin I use hardens the entire scale making it nearly unbreakable so I do not worry abut the scales cracking in half. The horizontal separation also avoids a pin falling on or around a seam. Personally, I like the way the wood balances with that kind of devide, the eye flows better over the lines.

That is the best looking amboyna I've ever seen. I'm in love. You did a great job on the scale shape, too.
If you're ever looking to sell some of the wood from that same stock please let me know. I'd be interested.
