    Default Black Velvet restore

This is an International Cutlery (Solingen Germany) "BLACK VELVET".
I found it in an antique shop needing a light sanding and a heavy buffing.
There is a black finish on the tip and the tang/monkeytail.

The blade came out looking like fairly new and I added Thiers Issard faux tortoise scales w/ MicroFastener 2/56 buttonheads w/nuts and nylon washers between the scales and tang. The fancy washers are sterling silver purchased in a bead shop.

I think the nut is a bit too prominent but it looks good after buffing it to a high polish. I wish it didn't stick out so far from the side of the scale but I've seen other restorations with the same results.
