Bill Ellis in Ebony + Dovo #55
This was actually a very frustrating razor. The original scales which were also in Ebony but did not hold the blade properly. Blade kept falling through the scales. The tang being very wide on this blade, combined with a tapered ending towards the long monkey tail made it a challenge to come up with a set that would actually fit this blade. None the less a gorgeous blade.
Because of the long monkey tail a third pin was out of the way cause of the tail not getting past a third pin when trying to open or close the razor. I also didn't want to come up with a banana style set of scales which is basically what the original scales looked like. And even those didn't work. Went to the mental drawing board and after the cutting, sanding and polishing of the ebony scales I came up with this and everything fitted perfectly. G10 yellow tapered wedge. Brass, nickel silver and SS hardware.
I also have a set of Dovo's #55 in a requested classic, traditional shape G10 Hunter Orange and Red Paua LVS acrylic that will be travelling together.
Have a great WK!

Wow Max, those look great. The ebony's curve plays off the long monkey tail really well. I love the shape of the scales.
