Thread: Permedge X104 in Brazilian Rosewood

This is a nice little 5/8 made for the United Drug Company of Boston/St. Louis that I found in a lot of razors I bought to play with in the shop. I'd never heard of permedge before, but it was in new-old-shoddy condition-- no honewear, no rust, but a good bit of tarnish and broken up scales.

I also just got in a shipment of exotic hardwoods, and the brazilian rosewood was looking nice to my eye, so this little razor got dressed in some just-over-1/16th-thick rosewood scales with a white acrylic wedge, 6 coats of buffed polyurethane, and stacked stainless-brass pins.

Shave test later tonight.

Those are very classy looking scales, very nice fit and finish. The pinning is perfect. I like the way the razor looks.

See here, wood is supposed to be warm and supple, yielding to the touch. Note the abundance of rounded edges and delicate elliptical curves throughout. Well done IMO.

Really nice, sensitive work... I am becoming more and more a fan each time I see your scales. I think the Walnut is still my favourite.
