Abalone and Stars Jansen & Richartz
When I got this razor, the scales were mismatched. When closed, it would slide between the rear of the wedge and inside the scale. It didn’t quite hit the front pin when closed, but almost.
This is stamped Jansen & Richartz Solingen Germany. I suspect it is somehow related to Emil Jansen Wald Solingen razors. They appear very similar.
Scales are acrylic abalone with black backing, from Masecraft. I used brass rod with brass stars as washers. These start off as bead spacers, sanding down to a nice thickness. Originally when I finished it, I didn't like the stars and abalone, but it has kinda grown on me now.
For the wedge I used a green acrylic that has a black spiral texture mixed into it. The blade got some light sanding, mostly to get rid of the rust, but not much to detail or polish. It has some hone wear so I wasn't super motivated to spend lots of detail time. It does still need to be honed.
It's been sitting, after finishing it about 3 weeks ago, but just took these pictures recently while snapping some others. I've just started playing with the camera, and I'm learning taking pics is a lotta work! I hope to improve my photographer skills as I learn the camera thing.
Thanks for looking.
