Thanked: 522Genco fan
I have been a fan of Genco razors for years. I got my first one back around 1970 or so. One of my favorites is the EASY ACES, I have three. This one had hone wear, a loose hinge pin and a dirty spacer so I took it apart, buffed the blade, cleaned the stains off the spacer and repinned with a triple stack at each end. The hone wear is hardly noticeable after buffing the blade.
Then to the hones and a very nice shave. Easy Aces take an easy edge for me as do all Gencos.JERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

Most of my razors come from local shops in western NY. I have found many a Genoc and Geneva razors on good condition. They are all great shavers and all except for one Geneva honed up very easily. The one that was a PITA was super hard and the only one out of the bunch. Great razors!

Thanked: 3795One of the first razors I ever got was a Geneva. I too experienced the hardness of Geneva steel, as at that time I was completely honing my razors with a Swaty and a Carborundum 102. Needless to say I never got the bevel set on that one! Even when I got my Nortons several years later, I failed to set the bevel because I did not yet have the proper appreciation of how hard that steel was. I did not even try setting the bevel again until I posted a thread here complaining about how I just could not hone the damn thing. Several responded with comments about how hard the steel was, so that inspired me to go at it more pressure than I was accustomed. Finally, I got it sharp. Mine was an ugly razor but it still shaves just fine!
Oh, and I can't really tell the difference between the shaves of my Easy Aces and my WonderEdges. The Easy Aces is awesome!
